Ytheu Elmen, finally growing confident in both her place in the Magicianship and her new role as the King’s Courier, finds herself faced with a new, personal quest when a solo mission sparks the return of hidden memories—memories of her time as a prisoner of the Shadow Knights nearly a year ago. They did something to her, and she can’t remember what. It’s time to find out.

But what starts out as her own private quest to discover her recent past quickly spirals out of control when her efforts land her friend and fellow Magician, Ivan Lee, in the hands of the Shadow Knights.

When it becomes clear that Ytheu’s forgotten experience at the Shadow Keep is the key to rescuing Ivan from a grisly fate in the same fortress, the Magicianship’s desperate rescue turns into a race against time as Ytheu must recover the truth if she is to have any hope of saving her friend.
